Good Luck Hurlers!

Saturday May 12th is a huge milestone for the KCGAC. The club is sending their first hurling team to a competitive match. The Wolfhounds are headed to Chicago to play in their annual tournament held at Gaelic Park. The hurlers are expected to face St. Louis, Madison and Indianapolis.

We have a few hurling veterans along with some younger players making up this squad.

Good Luck! Safe Travels! Up the Wolfhounds!

Practice Sunday May 6th

Due to a scheduling conflict, we will be on the grass side fields this weekend.  We will also move practice up to 1-4pm.  Same format Hurling then Football.

Rain or shine but not thunder and lightning

We get a lot of questions about if we will cancel practice because of rain. Our general plan is we will practice in the rain unless their is thunder and lightning in the area.

Please check our Facebook page or Twitter feed because we will post if practice is canceled there on Sunday.

Intro to Irish Sports on April 1st

Are you interested in the Irish sports of Gaelic Football and Hurling?

The Kansas City Gaelic Athletic Club is hosting an open practice to explain the basics of Ireland’s two national sports, Gaelic football and hurling. This practice will be on Sunday, April 1st at 6PM at Sporting Kansas City’s Practice Facility in Swope Park (6310 Lewis Road, Kansas City Missouri). We will have two 30 minutes sessions explaining each sport and then you’ll have an opportunity to play. You may have seen our green Boulevard jerseys around town, now you can play the sports!

Everyone is encouraged to come out and give it a try. You can be the fittest athlete in Kansas City or just someone who wants to try out a new sport. We have a competition level for all. Men, women and children are all welcome!

All you need is a pair of soccer cleats or running shoes and your gym clothes.

If you would like to get some more information about the sports please go to Gaelic Football or Hurling links. We have posted some videos and have detailed descriptions about both sports on our website. If you can’t make it out April 1st you are invited to give the sports a try at any of our practices – Sundays at 6PM at the Sporting Kansas City Practice Facility.

Goalkeepers wanted!  The keeper position in Gaelic football is played almost identically to the same position in soccer.  We’re always in need of players with good hands and a big leg.

If you have any questions please feel free to email us at info@kcgac.org or post on our Facebook wall.

We hope to see you out on April 1st!

PRACTICE March 11, 2012

Hello ALL,

After a great day for the parade, it looks like we had a little rain that came through the land.  We will be having practice today from 12-3 this afternoon, .  Remember we practice on an all weather field so the weather makes it more like playing in Ireland.  Hope to see everyone out there today!  CG

Brookside Parade - March 10th

The St. Patrick’s Season always starts with a nice little warm up called the “Brookside St. Patrick’s Warmup Parade” or as some in the club call it St. Practice Day! It’s like Spring Training for March 17th.

The Parade begins at 2PM and we will need to be in our designated spot at around 1:30. We are in spot #93 this year and we’ll be lining up on Brookside Road (one block east of Wornall) around 65th Street.

The Parade is open to EVERYONE! Friends, family, and children are all welcome to take the 30 min walk with the club. We will be handing out fliers and candy during the parade. Only two rules for the parade are you have to have fun and you can’t leave the parade early. Please bring your hurleys, wear your jerseys or just wear green.

A group will be at Charlie Hooper’s around 11:30AM to get a table and grab some lunch before the Parade. If you want a table at Hooper’s please arrive before noon. It gets a little competitive for tables after that point. We’ll meet up after the parade back at Hooper’s!

See everyone on Saturday!

If you missed out on our jersey order in February - have no fear! We are placing a second order in the next few weeks. The jerseys will cost around $50 and shorts are $15. Please contact Chad at chad@kcgac.org for pricing details.
