Are you interested in the Irish sports of Gaelic Football and Hurling?
The Kansas City Gaelic Athletic Club is hosting an open practice to explain the basics of Ireland’s two national sports, Gaelic football and hurling. This practice will be on Sunday, April 1st at 6PM at Sporting Kansas City’s Practice Facility in Swope Park (6310 Lewis Road, Kansas City Missouri). We will have two 30 minutes sessions explaining each sport and then you’ll have an opportunity to play. You may have seen our green Boulevard jerseys around town, now you can play the sports!
Everyone is encouraged to come out and give it a try. You can be the fittest athlete in Kansas City or just someone who wants to try out a new sport. We have a competition level for all. Men, women and children are all welcome!
All you need is a pair of soccer cleats or running shoes and your gym clothes.
If you would like to get some more information about the sports please go to Gaelic Football or Hurling links. We have posted some videos and have detailed descriptions about both sports on our website. If you can’t make it out April 1st you are invited to give the sports a try at any of our practices – Sundays at 6PM at the Sporting Kansas City Practice Facility.
Goalkeepers wanted! The keeper position in Gaelic football is played almost identically to the same position in soccer. We’re always in need of players with good hands and a big leg.
If you have any questions please feel free to email us at info@kcgac.org or post on our Facebook wall.
We hope to see you out on April 1st!
